Nathaniel + Teddie | Salisbury House | Des Moines, Iowa

Nathaniel + Teddie’s wedding was my dream come true — it was Harry Potter themed and if you know me even a little bit, you’ll know that I have a small obsession with HP! We hit it off right away during their consultation, when they told me their theme I believe I said, “I’m a Hufflepuff, please let me photograph your wedding.” 😂 All nerdiness aside, these two had the most perfect day and I couldn’t be happier for them. The Salisbury House and Gardens in Des Moines was the perfect location for their ceremony, Dumbledore was an incredible officiant and Nathaniel’s vows were legendary, I don’t think there was a dry eye in the room. You can just see how much Nathaniel + Teddie love each other and that is my favorite thing about photographing weddings! Congratulations, you two! Thank you so much for letting me be a part of your day! ❤

Nathaniel proposed on April 16th, 2016. It was our college graduation party at his parent’s house since we were going to graduate during the same year, but not at the same time. During the party he called for everyone’s attention under the guise of thanking them all for attending and how we were happy to have them help celebrate our graduation. He did thank them, but then he pulled out a heart shaped jar full of blue and white sand that held a ring from a bowl on top of his parent’s Victrola and got down on one knee. He popped the question and I was so speechless I could only nod my head yes! It was truly a surprise proposal.”

“Our biggest priority while planning our wedding was making sure all vendors were paid, and that everything went as smoothly as possible. Also making sure that the theme went over well with everyone, since not everyone knew about Harry Potter and Star Wars.”

“We are looking forward to all of the adventures, be they big or small and finally being able to call each other “hubby” and “wifey”.”

“I love Nathaniel’s humor. He can always make me smile and laugh even when I don’t feel like it with his silly jokes and quotations from funny movies or shows. It’s uncanny how he knows exactly what to say in whatever situation to make me smile and laugh, no matter what kind of day I’m having.”

“Mind my cheese, but I really can’t narrow it down to one thing that I love about her. From the very start, Teddie has filled a hole I never knew existed in my life. She’s my motivation to succeed, to wake up in the morning and have the drive to better myself. She is my everything, and I love her love for me. Together we are a single entity, forever and always.”

“Our advice to couples planning their weddings is that at the end of the day, it’s your wedding, so don’t take too many outside opinions into account. It is impossible to please everyone, so focus the most on making sure your day is what you want it to be. Also, don’t get super concerned about everything being absolutely perfect, because things will happen that you can do nothing about, and it just causes unneeded stress.”

“Nathaniel’s humor came out as it always does with his vows, giving everyone in attendance a laugh, while still being sentimental and tear jerking. Laughing while getting ready with all the shenanigans, such as getting dressed in the dark corridor downstairs because there wasn’t a space to actually get changed, having some shoe snafus while getting Teddie’s shoes on, and just plan having fun while trying to kill the nerves before the first look. Teddie got that perfect reaction she was hoping for for the first look. Also the officiant surprising us with his Dumbledore getup, we didn’t expect him to go all out and it made us really happy.”

“There is absolutely nothing that I would improve about our experience with Eleanor Kathryn Photography. Even with us arriving late to the venue, and the timeline being a little off, somehow, we still managed to get to everything on time, and all the shots we needed were taken.”

“Kaely and her assistant Christopher were an amazing pair to work with, and they were very patient with us and all our guests. They had almost as much energy as we had that day, and truly showed that they have a passion for what they do. They were part of our days success and you could not ask for a better experience.”
